Big
and Wide as the Sky
Joy Zimmerman
I’ve put
aside bibs, strollers, and cribs
I no longer carry you
But I carry you here in my heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
You have grown
and spread your wings
Seeking new ventures by day
While here I watch with a heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
I’ve put
aside carpools, baseball games
I no longer accompany you
But as you go you are here in my heart
As big and as wide as the sky
You have grown
and someday soon
You’ll fly far from me
But I’ll be here with a heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
How could we
know
The changes our hearts would undergo
How could we know
The trials our hearts would undergo
I’ll be
here with a heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
I’ll be
here with a heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
I’ll be
here with a heart that has grown
As big and as wide as the sky
